The small city of Hawthorne has numerous exciting places to visit. Choose your favorite location when you’re planning a trip or celebrating a special occasion. Once you select the venue, it’s our responsibility to get you there safely. Below are some highlights from Hawthorne:
• Wilder Beach Natural Preserve– There are good dirt and gravel roads that lead in and out of the cliffs. Public access is accessible to several coves to the west, Four Mile Beach near the western end of the park being the most appreciated. On the shoreline, stay on the lookout for sea lions.
• Flow Trail– In 2015, the Flow Trail was incorporated into the famous trail network of the Soquel Demonstration Forest. For 3.75 miles, the path goes down around 1,250 vertical feet. The many bends of this path will appeal to the majority of riders.
• Old Cabin Trail– The Old Cabin Trail is a fun, one-of-a-kind trail surrounded by trees. On the Old Cabin Trail, there is a very difficult left turn along a creek bed, then a gradual and twisty climb, almost overgrown along a narrow Ridgetop.
• Santa Cruz Lighthouse– The Point houses Steamer Lane, the most famous surfing destination in the county, and features a surf museum housed in a lighthouse. For weddings and other open-air events, a lawn is available for rent.
• San Lorenzo River Railroad Trail Bridge– The famous Boardwalk Entertainment Complex is directly connected to the former 140-year-old Coastal Train Bridge, which was fully rebuilt in 2019. It is the best option to remain as close as possible along the rocky coast, despite the cliffs and large estuary of the river.
